Paint Protection Film

A dark blue BMW X5 xDrive40i, brought in for paint protection film. Film was laid across the bonnet, doors, tailgate and headlights, with trim components removed and filmed on the bench so the edges disappear.
The Challenge
Dark metallic paint shows every chip and wash mark, and an X5's broad bonnet and front end take the brunt of expressway driving. The brief was to keep the factory finish intact from day one.
Our Approach
After a full decontamination the car went into the bay. Film was floated wet, positioned and squeegeed panel by panel; the headlights, door edges and tailgate were formed by hand, and removable trim was filmed off the car for a cleaner wrap around its edges.
The Result
Under studio light the film is effectively invisible. The lacquer reflects as it did when new, now with a replaceable layer between it and the road.
